Community Activities

The members of the Dubrovnik Foreign Circle have organised and participated in many activities over the last few years. A number of these activities are related to the local community, which is a very important part of what the DFC is about.

Some notable achievements over the last year have been:

Down Syndrome Children's Christmas Party (2011)

2011 saw the introduction of a new community activity, a children’s Christmas party for the local children with Down Syndrome and their families. The party was hosted at the Hilton Hotel with their staff and families. The DFC members, Hilton staff and guests along with members of the local community donated money which was used to purchase presents for the Down Syndrome children and their siblings the remaining money was given to the Down Society towards their Speech Therapy program. The highlights of the party were the arrival of Santa Claus to give them their gifts and everyone was delighted when local band Vrtuljak along with their mascot a Dalmatian Dog named Floki “rocked the house” with kids’ songs and lots of dancing.

DFC and Art Radionica Lazareti Second Hand Sale (2010 and 2011)

Each year the sale was held over two days and DFC members managed the successful event. 2010 saw all monetary proceeds  donated to the local Animal Shelter. 2011 all monetary proceeds were donated to local NGO - ‘DVA SKALINA’ (2 steps) Rehabilitation Centre whilst the remaining clothing and items were given to ARL for their projects and to yet another local NGO “Bonsai” to distribute to those in need.

We hope to see you at our next second hand sale in October 2012.

DFC Bake Sale (2009, 2010, 2011)

The DFC have hosted three successful bake sales outside the Sponza Palace, 100% of the proceeds have gone towards the development of DFC community projects.
